Outrigger systems represent a range of contemporary structural solutions that have been employed to enhance the lateral performance of supertall buildings, a prime example of this being the Burj Khalifa. The systems under discussion consist of a central core which is connected to perimeter structural elements through outrigger walls located at selected stories. These systems are often complemented by a surrounding belt truss. The present study investigates the effectiveness of outrigger systems through the utilization of static pushover analysis. A comparative assessment is conducted in order to ascertain the optimum outrigger configuration. A comparative analysis is conducted on four models of a 136.8 m supertall building, incorporating varying outrigger arrangements, in contrast to a conventional baseline model devoid of outriggers. The performance of all models is evaluated in terms of the performance point obtained under response spectra derived from real earthquake records. The most effective outrigger configuration is identified for each loading case.
